Engineer}5/AP.9.4.37 BENTLEY STEERING CONTROL RATTLES. There has been a considerable number of steering control rattle complaints on the Bentley recently. This rattle occurs between the control quadrant holder and the steering worm tube, and is cured, in the Repair Dept., by fitting a new felt washer and oiling thoroughly. On the Ph.III. and 25/30. this trouble was overcome by increasing the clearance at this point from 0.010 to 0.020" so that the controls are located by the felt washer rather than by metal to metal contact. The Bentley still has the original clearance of 0.010 and we suggest that this should be increased to 0.020 as soon as possible on Production and also in cases of complaint.
