Dear Sirs,

re Boyce Empire Electric Clock No. 662.

Referring to your letter of the 31st ultimo, reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/AD, we now have pleasure in reporting upon this instrument in accordance with the information received from the Manufacturers as follows:-

"We find that the contact toggle pivot was broken and this has been replaced.
"In order to remove any uneasiness on this point, we would advise you that the size of these pivots has been considerably increased since the date of despatch of these test samples and we are confident there will be no failure with the bulk supplies now being made.

"With regard to contacts. We attribute the burning of these to the coarse wire with which the coils were wound.

"With regard to the low voltage protective device. We note that your clients are finding difficulty in replacing this once it has operated and we readily admit that the construction is one which does not permit of any easy repair but as this is calculated to come/
