We recommend that in future when a customer demands Warland rims the Sales Dept. should recommend instead, Dunlop wheels fitted with Goodyear or Firestone demountable rims. We understand the Dunlop people intend to make the Goodyear rims standard on their wheels at no distant date. These rims necessitate the use of a straight sided tyre. The American tyre Companies are now stocking straight sides tyres in this country and also we have the Dunlop Company's promise that they will have on the market straight sided tyres by September this year. It is practically certain that the straight sided tyre will be the tyre of the future and therefore we ought to anticipate its use. We have found the advantages of the straight sided tyre are as follows :-

1. It makes it possible to use a neat, light, reliable demountable rim which completely solves the problem of changing tyres.
2. It does away with the necessity of security bolts.
3. It makes it impossible to have pinched or nipped inner tubes.
4. It makes a more reliable tyre because a large percentage of failures on the present tyres are due to the bead. There is also much less risk of testing a tube if the tyre is run short distances deflated.
5. The Dunlop wheel fitted with a Goodyear demountable rim and straight sided tyres is no heavier than the present
Contd.
