PROGRAMME OF TEST BED WORK.

No.30 Bed.

WRAITH NO.4.UNIT.

Unit built as a 'mock-up' comprising:-

25/30. cylinder block, cylinder head and induction and exhaust system.

Wraith III. crankcase, camshaft and tappets etc.

Test with view to unit being fitted in a chassis including-

(1) "Running in" with 10% lard oil and 90% P.4. mixture with additional priming of bottom tappets.

(2) Power curve open exhaust and with silencer.

(3) Observe whether the tappet noise period at 1500 R.P.M. is improved, also general tappet noise at various clearances .004", .006", .008" and .010 set hot.

(4) If engine timing gears are reasonable pass off, but if bad co-operate with fitters to improve.

(5) Unit to be tuned up in readiness for fitting in chassis and remove when complete and refit No.3. unit.

WRAITH III.NO.3.UNIT.

(1) Carburetter to be metered for this engine with std. exhaust silencer and air silencer.

(2) Take curves necessary for fitting correct characteristic suction ignition control. Hand control for ignition is to be disused.
