be found satisfactory with a sufficient flow of hot gas through the jacket, and that sufficient heat will travel down the uptake portion of the induction pipe for the purpose.

With regard to the carburetter, the air inlet has been brought out in a forward direction, which is a departure from our usual practice, but has the advantage of giving us practically unrestricted room for the air cleaner and silencer. A separate scheme will be sent dealing with these latter items, but an external view is shown on LeC.3169 showing a resonance type of air silencer surmounted by a metal wool air cleaner.

On LeC.3157 the main jet mixture control is arranged for independent connection to the steering column and the low speed jet for the throttle edge is shown with an adjustment but no control apart from a cock to shut off the air supply for starting, which cock is connected to the normal starting lever on the instrument board.
