Attn / Mr Hardy Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of 27th inst. addressed for the attention of Mr.Daniell and also confirming the visit of your Mr.Hards-den when he brought with him divided propeller shafts which require attention. We trust that under test this has now proved satisfactory. With regard to the revision on the concentricity of the midship bearing shaft and also the question of balance in the former case, we will take advantage of your offer of machining these to the tolerance that you require as we do not have any facilities here which would enable us to grind the bearing surfaces. We are therefore arranging that future shafts shall be supplied to you with approximately .010/.012 allowance for the grinding on the bearing diameter and also on the taper as this must be dealt with at the same time. We have finished 19 shaft ends which are in the course of either being built up or are built into shafts and are almost ready for despatch and we will pay special attention to these and see that they are as near as possible to the limits specified by you.
