Prof. Schuster's car No. 763.

Mr DeLooze 24.4.12.

TBB1/L24412.

This failure is one of several of a similar description which have occured on cars not fitted with any form of spring or slipper drive.

The Committee have agreed that these cars should be fitted with a spring drive to the crankshaft timing wheel, and this is now being designed in the Drawing Office.

This course has been taken because we believe that the stripping of the gears has been caused by the excessive vibration of the end of the crankshaft being transmitted to the gear wheels. This vibration will be isolated by means of the spring drive above mentioned.

We are attempting in the designs being made, to bring in a spring drive without the necessity of fitting new
