X. 4079b -> REDMANOL ENCASED BATTERY IGNITION COILS.

Further to our report EFC1/T14.10.24, the following table gives the record of the mileages of the three coils TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1, TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}2, TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3 and TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}5 to present date, side by side with mileages given at the time of that report:-

Coil. Mileages to 14.10.24. Mileages to present date.
TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1. 6,322 14,942.
TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}2. 13,781 19,530
TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3. 3,331 18,103
TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}5. 801 6,608

N.B. TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}4 was accidently damaged and is therefore not included.

The above mileages of these four coils have been covered without any report of failure or suggestion of failure.

Further work in this direction consists in running three coils of the new EAC. type in Redmanol cases; these are expected for experimental test shortly.

It is agreed that standardisation could not be considered until consistent reliability of material used can be proved. For this, it would be necessary to run a relatively large number of these coils in batches at intervals.
