EXPERIMENTAL REPORT -3- Expt. No. REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/LC14.12.25 The Sunbeam acceleration figures are interesting because they shew that though stream-lining can give speed, a large engine will always have an advantage for low speed acceleration. Thus the Vauxhall has better accelerating because it has a 4-litre engine to the Sunbeams 3-litre, though it may be inferior in maximum speed. As regards maximum speeds. Given that the speedo-meters are correct, we consider that there must have been an appreciable amount of wind in the cars favour to give this result. In any case, 117-MC seems to have a body which should be worth study from the point of view of stream-line. We should imagine that the wings are somewhat abnormal. contd :- | ||
