A Simple Way to BETTER LUBRICATION The accompanying illustration shows how the contents of the average crankcase will settle into well-defined layers if left undisturbed. The proportion of water in the crankcase in cold weather is frequently excessive. In order to demonstrate the truth of this picture, have your crank-case drained immediately after stopping the motor and fill a quart bottle with the drainings. Within a few minutes the layers define themselves and after an hour or so, a condition like that shown in the test tube will result. The bottom layer is made up of abrasives such as road dust, metallic particles, coresand, etc. Above this is a layer of water—a considerable portion of the total in cold weather. The pure oil is the top layer. The unique principle involved in Float-O makes it possible to take the oil from the upper layer, leaving the water and solids undisturbed at the bottom to be flushed out at the next draining.
