Hamilton RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} at W. 1011 93 Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}14/RH.{R. Hollingworth} 14.6.37. P-3 CHASSIS No. 34.FX. As you know this chassis is being mounted with an experimental body being constructed by J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Ridlington of the J.R. Engineering Co., in conjunction with Hooper & Co., The chassis has reached Ridlington with the original bonnet having an overhang of 8" and with the backend sloped at 7 degrees. The body has been built for the old alternative bonnet, i.e., one with an overhang of 12" and with the backend sloped at 15 1/2 degrees. The construction of the body is such that the scuttle cannot be altered to suit the existing bonnet. We are afraid therefore that there is nothing for it but for the bonnet to be exchanged. We suggest that you arrange for a new bonnet of the correct type to be sent to the J.R. Engineering Co., whose works are at Pound Lane, Willesden, N.W.10., and for N. to fit it there. We further suggest that the existing bonnet be returned to you to be put on one side with the intention of using it up when the original Park Ward Body (removed from the chassis) is taken into commission again. If you prefer it, of course, the original bonnet can be sent to Park Wards to be stored with the body The matter is somewhat urgent so that we would be glad if you could arrange for the bonnet change to be made quickly. (Honeyman?) 1- Bonnet with Shutter Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} at 15 1/2" with rear end to suit with Maybach Nobby. | ||
