E.A.C. - 'W' SERIES - re. 7.EX.

We understand that the Administration want this body to be mounted on the chassis in Derby. We strongly object to this for many reasons -

Firstly, because it is an experimental all-weather head in which the management of Barkers are very interested.

Secondly, because the cabriolet has a head which should be finished after the body is mounted, to set the proper setting of the doors, and the fitting of the head leather.

Thirdly, because it is a car for Mr. Royce and he is expecting a fully completed Barker job.

Fourthly, because in Derby there is no facility for making respectable wings and valances.

Fifthly, because having spent £800 or more on the body, it is waste not to make a perfect job of it.

Sixthly, because should there be any faults in this body they will live with us for ever and a day.

We are trying to urge upon administration that the chassis will in all outward appearances be a standard Phantom except for those fittings called for by the subframe.

We would ask you to remove the special petrol tank, luggage carrier, framed instruments, etc, etc, except the wing stays, before the car goes to the coachbuilders.

We feel so strongly in this matter that we would be glad of your co-operation in impressing upon administration - firstly, the desirability of sending the chassis to the coach-builders, and secondly, that there shall be nothing on the chassis outwardly appearing, which is not to be found on a standard New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I.
