Breakdown Voltage Test of Insulating Materials.
This test has been carried out on the samples of bakelite and continental bakelite submitted.
A few preliminary tests were made on some odd pieces of other materials, the results of which, together with those of the bakelites, are given in the table below.
In testing a piece of material, the method of procedure was as follows:-
It was first decided from the thickness of the sample, and its composition, across what points of the secondary it should be connected. Then it was placed between the plate electrodes, which were screwed together.
