Bentley Radiator Shutters: ------------------------------ Further to my report of the 8.12.33, the following figures should be added. Measured on the spring balance connected up with the lever to shutters, thermostat disconnected, the poundage required to start the shutters opening is 5½ lbs., and to fully open the shutters 8 lbs. During the road tests we found that 5 lbs. pull on the balance was enough effort to keep the shutters in the fully open position, the speed and wind resistance having no closing effect. It is only when the shutters are in the opening stages that, combined with speed and wind resistance, the greater effort is required from the thermostat.
