Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/R.C. April 24th : 1939 Our Ref. WSO/027/B. Messrs. Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., DERBY. Attention - The Sales Director. Dear Sirs: As you are aware, the Writer has been a Bentley owner since 1935, and up-to date we have fitted well over 100 Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars with our MOTOROLA Car Radio. We have now perfected an ideal set for all Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars, which we are sure will be ideal in every way for your dashboard. The Set is the Model 9-49, and is complete with six-station Electric Tuning. The Longwave is also electrically operated. The Set itself measures 11" long, 6½" high, 6" deep, and can be fitted on the nearside corner of the dash. The speaker is contained in the set, but if necessary, a separate speaker can be supplied, though there is no need whatever for this, as the radio can be heard perfectly throughout the car at 80 miles per hour. In our opinion, it is absolutely dangerous for any Rolls-Royce or Bentley owner to be fiddling with tuning knobs, and with our Electric automatic tuning, a button is simply touched and instantaneously the station is tuned in dead-accurately. The whole of the six stations can be set in no longer than one minute by just undoing one screw. In designing this Set for the British market - the Set is made in London - we have had your products in mind. Our new sales programme and advertising will make a strong point of the Automatic Tuning, and it will be our endeavour to point out to all car owners that automatic tuning is absolutely vitally necessary. The price of the complete set will be very low, namely, £18.18.0., and no suppressors whatever will be necessary. We have also designed a new Running-Board Aerial, which is ideal for your [STAMP: RECEIVED 26 APR 1939] All contracts or agreements contained in this letter are contingent on Strikes, Accidents, Fires or any other causes beyond our control, and all contracts are subject to approval by the signature of a duly authorised executive officer of this company.
