48230 BJ7/DN11.9.25. TO Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM BJ EXHAUST NOISE - 103-MC. With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG3/9.25, I have just been listening to 103-MC with the new exhaust and comparing it with a "Silver Ghost". So far as can be ascertained by listening in London, the silencer was very much the same. I am trying the car in the open road this afternoon. It will be very interesting for us to know what are the relative loss of power of the silencer on the "Silver Ghost" and the present standard "Phantom" silencer compared with this new silencer, and what has been the result of any road tests for speed and hill-climbing with the present standard silencer as compared with the silencer I have just been testing, as much must depend on the result of these tests as to which silencer shall be adopted.
