Copy of letter received from:- Messrs.C.G.Vokes & Co., 95 & 97, Lower Richmond Road, Putney, LONDON, S.W.15. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Limited., DERBY. June 11th 1928. Dear Sirs, We have recently placed upon the market an instrument known as the Battery Capacity Indicator, and its object is to inform the driver of a car when his battery is fully charged. There is no doubt that a great deal of harm is caused to the accumulator through over charging and if an instrument is always before a driver indicating to him whether his battery is low or not, he will from time to time remove it from the car and have it fully charged. We are sending under separate cover a sample instrument, which we trust you will accept with our compliments and place it upon test. We are forwarding one of our standard models, but should you consider the instrument favourably, we should of course be very pleased indeed to make it in any special finish, in order to match the other instruments on the dash. The only connections necessary are; a lead from the positive terminal to a positive terminal on the lighting circuit, and a lead from the negative terminal to a negative terminal on the lighting set. Should the system be one wire is only necessary to earth the negative terminal. The instrument is left permanently connected in circuit, but its current consumption is from 6/9 milli-amps and therefore, no damage can occur to the battery owing to its being short-circuited. If there are any further particulars you would like, we shall be very pleased indeed to let you have them, and we trust you will consider the matter favourably and that we shall have your remarks before us in due course. Yours faithfully, C.G.VOKES & CO. | ||
