C.I. CONVENTIONAL 8 - DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE.

Please receive herewith :-

E.CD.1129 Distributor Drive - C.I. Conventional 8.

The axis of the distributor drive is unaltered from the B.60 and B.80, so that the oil pump and its drive are unaltered.

We have modified the distributor drive to suit the RR. distributor shown on D.CD.1154, also, it is now possible to assemble the driving shaft from the top and the timing of the distributor has been simplified and is not seriously upset when the oil pump is removed from the engine.

In the case of removal of distributor from the engine, the driving shaft is retained in its correct position in driving gear, by a small collar pinned on the shaft coming into contact with the distributor drive tower.

Will BY/RD. please note the altered height of the distributor as compared with the design showing the wiring which was recently issued, this raising is to get the distributor away from the exhaust manifolds, and we hope that it will be unnecessary to fit heat shields for the protection of the distributor from the heat.

The application of low pressure oil to the driving gear has also been improved, the oil jet now being fed direct on to the gear in such a position as to avoid being flung off the teeth before they are in mesh with the mating gear on camshaft.

Will you please detail and instruct experimentally.
