4214 To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RG.{Mr Rowledge} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HB.{C. E. Harcombe} FN. S E C R E T. R6/115.2.24. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. FOUR WHEEL BRAKES. X.9940 X.4214 X.9930. Owing to the more general use of steel our brakes seem to have come out somewhat heavier than Hispano. Can we use more aluminium castings or sheet, and might some pieces be duralumin. When we finish off the 20 HP. (which I understand is to follow as soon as we can give it attention) we can try everything we know of likely to give us equal strength for less weight. When time allows we may go over the 40/50 and cut out all the weight we can conveniently, and let Mr.Hives have such pieces to test. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
