Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} HH. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 31-GX. Trials Car. This car has just had the Servo halos renewed in view of it being found that the brakes, when strenuously used recently, became highly ineffective. The rear brake-shoes are of the latest wide type. The halos were found to be perfectly good, other than the working surfaces which were highly glazed and having a very hard 'faced'. There is at Derby at the present time the "Phantom II" belonging to Capt. Glen - 21-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} - on which this same trouble has been found. I feel very much disturbed that it may be found necessary to renew the Servo halos after a few thousand miles in cases where cars are in the hands of fast drivers, and should be glad to have any remarks from you on this matter.
