RR. 235 A (100 T) (N F.{Mr Friese} 816 8-18) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2460 TO EFC. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} V3398 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M20.10.22. RE. PETO & RADFORD TYPE BATTERY. Referring to the standardisation sheet, and your note for which I thank you, I have no objection to signing this sheet if in order to obtain a second source of supply it is necessary to adopt the P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} battery in this form. Would you mind therefore telling me:- (1) Is this the only way that P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} have of making the battery to fulfil our specification viz, by making the battery portion heavier, and doing away with the containing box? If this is not the case it is evident that they could make a battery of standard size roughly 20 lbs. less than the present standard. Presumably however a battery made by them like this would not fulfil our specification? (2) Have we no other present source of supply except the Exide people, so that it is necessary to get P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} in order that we may have another firm to fall back on?
