20 HP. CAR. X218 X5771

We have now got the 20 HP. car 14-G4 (the latest type) completed. We have removed the cross and fitted tubular cross members similar to the S.S. This car is now equal to the standard 20 HP. as regards movement of the frame at the front.

The engine is the turbulent head type in which the compression ratio has been reduced from 5.6 to 5.1/1.

Generally, the car now creates a very good impression. It is more powerful than the present 20 HP. and is still smooth.

We are arranging for Sales to test this car against their present standard 20 HP. demonstration car.

There are still one or two features on this car which require attention. For instance, the engine is more critical on sparking plugs than we like. The attached report from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL. explains the tests which have been made in connection with this point.

We attach charts which give comparative performance of the car on the road with 12-G4 which is the little Coupe 20 HP. you had at WW. which is fitted with a standard engine.

The exhaust system is still inclined to be noisy and we are asking for a similar scheme to the S.S. to be got out for the 20 HP.

As the question of ordering further 20 HP. material is now very urgent, we are pushing with all speed the tests on this improved 20 HP. so that the next material which is ordered will be suitable for the production of this car.
