LONDON. E.C.1.

Mr. Olley,
c/o Rolls-Royce Company Ltd.,
Derby.

May 23rd, 1930.

Dear Mr. Olley,

Let me tell you again how greatly I enjoyed my stay withyou in Derby. I greatly appreciated your meeting me at the station and giving up your time so completely to me throughout the day.

You already know how enthusiastic I am over both models of the present Rolls-Royce cars. The new 20-25 is certainly very remarkable in every respect, and from the standpoint of an owner's personal car I am convinced there can be nothing comparable with it. It strikes me as having been refined as well as improved to a very great extent, and certainly it is a pleasure to handle it, and I am going to look forward to the time hopefully when it is produced with left-hand drive so that I may have one for my own use and as a substitute for other personal cars, none of which can be compared with it in any respect.

Likewise, I am full of enthusiasm about the new 40-50 Phantom II. It is an altogether amazing improvement upon the Phantom I, which latter car I have been, until now, almost thoroughly satisfied with. But here again the development section of the Rolls-Royce plant has obviously accomplished wonders. I anticipate for it a great reception when seen and tried out by our American Rolls-Royce owners and enthusiasts.

I thoroughly enjoyed likewise the opportunity which you gave me to see so many of the sections of the works. It is gratifying indeed to see what busy plant it is and to observe what a wonderful class of work is being turned out from one end to the other. I cannot but feel it is, in output as well as in equipment, very much in a class by itself and the Company is to be highly congratulated upon the way in which it is carrying on and not only keeping pace with, but I believe going in advance of development work which is receiving so much attention these days in the making of automobiles in all countries.
