Mr. Walker, (Pattern Shop) c. H.P.S. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R.26.1.39. PATTERN ABOUT TO BE INSTRUCTED FOR CONVENTIONAL LINE 8 ENGINE. Confirming our discussion on the subject, we hand you herewith drawings of the conventional and high-power 8-cylinder engine. It is proposed to make entirely new 8-cylinder patterns for the conventional head and crankcase. In addition, the crankcase pattern should be instructed so that it is possible to fit on it a top for either the conventional or high-power head. The top suitable for taking the high-power head will be exactly similar to the one you already have in the Foundry. We understand that these patterns will probably be made at the Works. In view of the fact that we now have to work to a budget in the Chassis Division, we should like a firm quotation for the amount likely to be involved, this to be divided up into sections, i.e., (1) Cylinder Head (2) Crankcase for conventional engine (3) Modification to (2) to take high-power head.
