X1027 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From EH. c. to BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EH2/LG15.8.19. 15th. Aug. 1919. RE - TOOL KIT FOR 40/50 HP. CHASSIS. We find that the Tool Kit for the 40/50 chassis includes a copper petrol can. This was put into the chassis before we had the primer so as to inject petrol into the induction pipe. As all cars are now to be fitted with Primers this is unnecessary. Mr. Royce was under the impression that it was an oil can and complained that it was a very bad type of oil can. We recommend that none of these should go away with the cars. Mr. Royce also consider that only one oil syring is necessary. We see no reason why we should supply two; originally it was intended one to be used for gear oil and one for engine oil, but as we now like to use a thin oil alround two do not appear essential. In place of the syring, Mr. Royce thought we should supply a tin which would hold a small quantity of oil, say about 1 pint. This oil would be used for lubricating purposes in conjunction with the syring. Mr. Royce also wishes for a set of gas pliers to be included in the Tool Kit. These pliers are mainly for tyre valves and caps. We have explained to Mr. Ormerod the size of the pliers should be. It was thought that the leather roll, in these times, would be found very expensive and that a canvas roll might do equally as well. EH. | ||
