X1160 Grey -> This car is promised for the end of the month. Please follow up To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}2/HP.30.5.35. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} 20/25 HP. Noise Insulated Dashboard, isolated change speed lever gate, and gas tight floorboards. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} The following designs have been completed:- No. N.Sch.4474 - Isolated Gear Change Lever Mechanism. LeC. 4464 - Noise insulated dashboard. LeC. 4499 - Gastight scheme for isolated change gear gate. < LeC. 4511 - Pedal gap plate and gas tight floorboards. < LeC. 4513 - Floorboards. The adoption of the noise insulated dashboard and the isolated change speed lever gate make it impossible to use the existing design of floorboards with any degree of satisfaction. It was, therefore, found necessary to adopt a cast aluminium pedal gap plate on the same lines as is used on the Bentley car. In addition the floorboards are raised .500" at the rear end. The effect of this is to give us a much more satisfactory set of floorboards with reference to strength, gas tightness and clearance from gearbox parts, etc. In view of the fact that all these schemes are somewhat interdependent we think that every effort should be made to get them all fitted to 21-G-IV for its forthcoming test in France.
