ALTERED SHOCK DAMPER LOADS.
----------------------
There does not appear to be any difficulty in altering the shock damper loads to those specified if the figures given in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG.12.4.29 are used.
On the rear dampers, spring F79384 can be used as previously, the depth "d" (see above report) on the L.P. valve cap will have to be altered to be approximately the same as that on the H.P. valve cap.
On the front damper, spring F54807 can be used on both valves and the dimensions "d" on the L.P. valve cap made .020" greater than on the H.P. valve cap.
The most satisfactory arrangement is to get the fixed load on the damper with about an .050 washer under the cap, so that in service the load can be raised or lowered about 20 lbs., by the substitution of thinner or thicker washers.
It would be useful if you would alter the charts we give in our previous memo to suit the modifications that you make and let us have a copy for reference.
