When Sr. was last over here he complained that brake thumps were very prevalent on B.II's. and asked if anything could be done to reduce them. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} confirms this and points out that the cost to the company of curing brake thumps is about £1. per complaint - and one owner may complain several times, as the 'cure' only lasts a few weeks. It is fairly easy to fit one of the dampers to be used on Wraith 'C' series for stopping brake thumps. The damper fits behind the servo and is linked up with the front brake rod or the lower end of the servo balance lever. The air dash pot can be removed to improve appearance. We suggest that a suitable scheme should be prepared and a few pieces supplied to depots for complaint cases. The new components would not exceed 10/- in cost - possibly less. If any action is to be taken, it should be done quickly. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
