ORIGINAL PY. FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} REVISED TYPE 4. LUGGAGE CARRIER AND REAR APRON. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M20.12.30. V7400 K1531 The present type 4. luggage carrier has been severely criticised as being ugly, and we agree. It has the virtue that it employs most of the parts of the grid used behind the single rear spare wheel. We send herewith N. sch. 3032. shewing a modified type of grid for type 4. cars with no spare wheels at the rear. All the main pieces are new but the fittings are existing pieces. We have also indicated a rear apron in which may be incorporated a toolbox if desired. As Sales are anxious to see this scheme on a car we suggest that such a grid and rear apron be fitted up in Derby to a maximum bodied car, such as 20-EX., 22-EX., or 19-EX., and that a pair of new rear wings be made and fitted having the required valances to match up with the apron, by either Sanderson & Holmes, or by a coachbuilder in London. If you send us the car complete with grid and apron we would supervise the coachbuilders in the making and fitting of the wings. No doubt SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} will wish to consult you on how the whole should most cheaply done, and at the same time effectively be viewed. Please send SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} a print of N. scheme 3032.
