E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X. 7230 R3/M25.3.28. SS.{S. Smith} ENGINE - EXHAUST PIPE JOINT. Lec.2532 - BOLTED JOINT WITH SPHERICAL SEATS. The 2 schemes shewn seem to have very different radius for the sphere, one about 2", and the other 6". Perhaps they should be different, but somewhere about 3 min: 5 max: [strikethrough]they[/strikethrough] would seem better. Regarding loose washer type one would think that copper asbestos was not needed. The flat face could be grooved. The faces could have smaller area, and the bolts might be nearer in and spherically seated as you shew for the one without loose washer. I like the one with loose washer modified as above, but do as you think best. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
