Exactly similar types of damper are the Derihon and the Berkshire and both suffer from the same disadvantages.

(d) Dampers having fixed minimum loading obtained by spring controlled valves.

(i) The Lovejoy dampers.

The best known hydraulic damper with a spring loaded valve is the "Lovejoy" manufactured in America. This is a two stage, fixed loading single acting shock damper. They also market a single stage model. The essential details are a piston actuated by a crank and link.
