Lucas Windscreen Wiper.

We re-assembled the mechanism with a link of our own construction but were unable to make the special flexible push pull drive between the actuating mechanism and the O.S. wiper work correctly, and the Bowden wire inside the balls was broken. We have substituted a plain rod which works just as well provided the two parts are lined up carefully.

When dismantling it was found that the ferrule on one end of the centre casing of this portion of the drive, was loose. This allowed lost movement and possibly caused the Bowden wire to stretch.
