X 7430. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Dal/M/9.7.30. X. 7240 X. 7430 P.2. CONTROLS ON STEERING COLUMN. We send herewith N. schs. 3130/31 shewing the proposed controls above the steering wheel still further flattened. N. sch. 3131. shews the klaxon switch at the bottom of the column which is part of this proposal. With regard to the height of the balls above the spokes we suggest that they should be made as shewn, but if it is subsequently found that the finger trapping which occasionally happens now is not better, we might modify it by raising the ball somewhat, or possibly still further lowering it without losing the general advantages of flattening. As regards N.sch.3131. the switch is only modified by slightly changing one or two of the details, but in general it is intended to be as now. We also send N. schemes 3132/33. which are alternatives for use if it should be found that the switch at the bottom of the column is not a success. Until then it is not intended to do anything with them. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
