TO Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Confidential RE CHASSIS EXPL. DETAIL OFFICE. Mr.Hunt reports that the first bus which passes the Clan Foundry after 5pm. is always full due to the R-R Staff at Belper. The next bus is 5.40pm. so we are told. It is suggested that the Department should leave to catch the previous bus, in which the clock-on time would be 8.45am. and the Clock -off at 4.45pm. With the existing lunch time this would give the requisite working hours. We see no reason for opposing this proposal from our point of view, in fact it seems logical to fit the working hours to the transport facilities. We are given to understand that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has to give consent and we thought therefore that you would wish to deal with the matter. Another matter is that of the subsistence allowance. This morning Rb.{R. Bowen} raised the point as to whether the evacuated staff at the Clan Expl. should not now receive the Belper allowance of 15/- per week instead of the Duffield 13/-. This again we suppose will need to be approved by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We have informed Rb.{R. Bowen} that at the moment there is no intention of paying any subsistence allowance to any of the new men. [Signature] | ||
