To EFC. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 14th August, 1918. E1/G14818. X.3342 RE LIGHTING INSTALLATION AT WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town. Referring to Mr. Royce's memo R9/G13818, I recollect that you have some system which you have used in your own house for carrying main conductors and auxiliary flexible conductors on the walls, supported on little insulators, which appears to me to be the system we should follow in installing the lights mentioned by Mr. Royce. I have only a very hazy notion now of the manner in which you had arranged these conductors, but I described what I could recollect of them to Mr. Royce, and he says he thinks it is the same system that is regularly used on the Continent for house lighting. Perhaps you would be able to procure the necessary fittings for us. I attach herewith a sketch shewing the perspective view of the wiring and giving the lengths between bends, which I hope will enable you to settle the number and variety of fittings that we should require. I do not know at the moment what could be arranged for the lamp pendants, it certainly would be a convenience if these were made adjustable in height, but we should like to avoid the usual type of adjustable pendant with its cumbersome pulley system. Perhaps for the small size of lamps we shall be using, the adjustable pendant is obtainable in a neater and more compact form. Would you kindly let us know what you can do in respect (Contd.) | ||
