| COPY. STAMFORD LODGE, WILMSLOW.......Cheshire. 25th November 1936. Messrs. Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, re CHASSIS NO. B.71-GP. ------------------------- I took delivery of this Bentley from Messrs. Cockshoots of Manchester two or three months ago, and after the car had run 1,000 miles a fault occurred in that on third gear it would not exceed 50 miles an hour. The trouble was ascertained and put down to the sparking plugs and using Ethyl spirit. New plugs were put in the car and I have since been running on Shell No. 1. There has been no recurrence of the trouble, but I am of the opinion that the car does not run as well on Shell as it did on Ethyl in that there is considerably more pinking. I have been given to understand that you are endeavouring to ascertain what kind of plug will be suitable for use in conjunction with Ethyl and I shall be much obliged if you will let me know whether you have yet come to any definite opinion. Yours faithfully, (sgd) H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} AGNEW. | ||
