TO RG.{Mr Rowledge} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL R6/M12.11.23. c. to CJ. BJ. c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} FN. re. FRONT WHEEL BRAKES. X1559 X9940 The matter of relieving these brakes auto- matically when passing round a corner is a very diff- icult job and we are attempting a little bit more than it is reasonable for us to expect to digest. We should have done well if we had gone on completing a set of brakes as originally designed _ since completed and fairly satisfactory, but relative- ly more braking needed on front wheels - (good error.) We therefore think it would be advisable to fit a second one up with the reversed scheme in which the front brakes are from 'servo', so that we can in- troduce the automatic release as soon as it is ready. In the meantime we can work on getting the brakes sat- isfactory, pending the introduction of this relief. We now fear insufficient back wheel braking. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
