To Mr. Bradbury From Ra/MHR.{M. H. Rigby} 1029 Ra/MHR.{M. H. Rigby}4/ET.11.11.41. Copy to Mr. Thomas. With reference to the 4 wheel cylinder castings GB.4.MS instructed in A/C 403 by the writer in Ra/MHR.{M. H. Rigby}6/JH.18.7.41. These castings were returned from the Lockheed Brake Co., who were asked to machine them, as they were unable to produce a good finish on the 1.000 dia. hole, which has to be very accurately done. This is to confirm that Mr. Bradbury is going to look into the matter, with a view to changing the method of casting, and possibly the material as well. It should be mentioned that a 2 hydraulic brake master cylinders were cast at the same time in A/C. 403, and the one that Lockheeds machined was quite satisfactory. In this case, coring was used down the centre of the cylinder. We enclose a print GB.4178. Ra/MHR.{M. H. Rigby} | ||
