W.A. Robotham Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Robotham,

When we were over at Derby we were discussing Gearboxes, and you suggested if I remember rightly, that your new box was approximately the same size, and basically the same cost on production, as our's; and you also suggested that you might supply us with Gearboxes.

I do not know whether this was intended to be a serious proposition, but if it was and still is, will you let me have the following information:

(1) Outline of the Gearbox.
(2) Weight of the Box complete.
(3) Approximate cost.
(4) An approximate date from when you would be prepared to supply at a rate of say, 12,000 units a year.

Yours sincerely,

[Signature: S B Wilks]
