joints were well lubricated.

On the present standard cars which we are making, the oil does not stay in the joint longer than 300 or 400 miles.

The lubricator for this joint is brought to the side of the frame so as to make it an easy operation. Springfield point out that this is not suitable under their conditions because a large number of their customers in America take their cars to a Greasing Station to have them lubricated where they have mechanical pumps which force grease throughout the chassis. They anticipate that if a force gun lubricator is used, grease would be injected into the joint. We discourage the use of grease for the lubrication of any parts of the chassis.
