Length. 10 miles. Good broad road, good surface, with wide bends.

Gradient varies between 5% and 10%.

Weather fine and dry.

Second gear used practically throughout. First not used at all.

1st. Test. Closed bonnet, dashboard plate off. 8.30 a.m.
Air temp. foot of pass. 9° Cel.
" " summit. 7° Cel.
Loss of water. 1-3/4 litres.

2nd. Test. Louvred bonnet, dashboard plate off. 10.10 a.m.
Air temp. foot of pass. 11° Cel.
" " summit. 9° Cel.
Loss of water. 1 litre.

3rd. Test. Louvred bonnet with dashboard plate on. 12.30 p.m.
Air temp. foot of pass. 14° Cel.
" " summit. 11° Cel.
Loss of water. 2-1/2 litres.

4th. Test. Closed bonnet, dashboard plate on. 2.30 p.m.
Air temp. foot of pass. 16° Cel.
" " summit. 15° Cel.
Loss of water. 4-1/2 litres.

5th. Test. Without bonnet, dashboard plate on. 3.45 p.m.
Air temp. foot of pass. 14° Cel.
" " summit. 11° Cel.
No loss of water. Temp. 90° Cel. on summit.
