To DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X23 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1/LG2.7.26. FAILURE OF FRONT AXLE. X23 X1331 We attach herewith the information which you require with regard to the life of the pre-war front axle on the bumping rig. We are at present running the bump test with 2" cams instead of the 3" as used in the 1914 tests. This is because we find that the 3" cams break the chassis up too quickly.
