X4473. 21.10.29. MOTOR SHOW OLYMPIA 1929. Extract from H.E.West's report WD. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 85. The majority of the high class cars take the H.T. ignition wires on the exhaust side through a neat and inexpensive polished metal tube. We have strongly advocated this for the S.S. as moulded tubes, either bakelite or vulcanite, cannot withstand the radiant heat of the exhaust pipe. A number of cars have adopted H.T. wires with a varnished cambric covering. This affords protection from radiant heat, atmospheric deterioration and oil and petrol. One one of the cars, either the Minerva or Invicta, all the H.T. wires on the exhaust side were covered (individually) with asbestos sleeving. | ||
