W/K - KC. X 202 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}8/KW.16.9.36. Rear Axles on Old Type Bentley Cars. Will you let us know how many failures, if any, you have had on the axle half shafts on Bentley cars other than the present type. As far as we can tell from the arrangement drawings, the 3 litre, 4½, 6½ and 8 litre cars all had half floating axles, all of 45 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} diameter underneath the Timken bearing. If you did experience any failures we should like to know at what sort of mileage and at what part of the half shaft. Can you also tell us whether any trouble was experienced with the hub coming loose on the taper ? Also whether after removing the brake drums it was difficult to refit the taper accurately. We should like this information as soon as possible. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
