We have sent you a telegram as follows:-

FRONT HOUSING OF PINION/HYPOID AXLE FAILING STOP LETTER FOLLOWING.

It has been noticed these last 2 or 3 days, that oil is leaking from the front housing of the pinion of the Hypoid Gear axle. Upon examination at midday to-day, we find that there is now considerable lateral movement in the housing, we should say approx. .0625". It would appear that either the ball race or the housing itself is giving out.

We do not wish to mention this in our Daily Report, as the axle is not standard. Please wire us your advice re this.
