Chassis 46-G-9. ---------------------- With reference to your A2/H10.7.23, the fitting of a new starter of the type existing on the above car can, of course, be carried out, providing we have some suitable starters in stock ( we are now fitting the Bijur Bendix as standard). However, we consider the fitting of a new starter to be unnecessary as the trouble reported by you is probably due to the threaded sleeve seizing or partially seizing on to the main shaft, thus preventing the spring from operating. By removing the Bendix spring and end piece, and making the threaded sleeve a proper sliding fit on to the shaft, the trouble will probably be overcome. This has been the cause of most of the exceptionally noisy drives of this type that we have come across. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
