By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Ds. BUICK PISTON PROJECT. We are suspending work on the Buick type piston project for the time being. The results obtained have been disappointing, we have not succeeded in getting any improvement in power output and no reduction in detonation for a given M.E.P. Buicks have, undoubtedly, improved their performance by the unsymmetrical piston. We believe, however, that it is uneconomical to continue investigations until we have an actual Buick engine on the test bed for analysis. Owing to the negative results yielded by the Project so far, we cannot for the time being incorporate any of the Buick modifications in the conventional Bentley 50 engine at present being designed.
