We have now conducted deflection tests on the crossmember which constitutes the rear engine support on Per.II, and which was alleged to have collapsed on the last 10,000 miles test. The static weight carried by this member might be about 300 lbs, and even if we assume that the load on the road reaches five times this figure, it is difficult to account for the large permanent set which was measured at the conclusion of the test.
