Faults found on a Phantom III regarding brake binding, distributor issues, and oil leaks from camshaft covers.

Cricklewood. 29th January, 1937. PHANTOM III Brakes. I am forwarding to you a set of broken brass rivets which was found on Chassis 3AZ-28. The complaint was rear foot brake binding. The strap was found hanging loose. Rear Brakes Binding. A PHIII has come in with the rear foot brake shoes binding. The brake bell crank levers were found seized solid. After the trouble we had in France with these levers, and making the job right, we cannot understand why the felt protection to these bearings has been left out. They are now bronze oiler bearings without any protection. [Handwritten: Martindale APM] Distributors. A case came in with a loose fulcrum pin for the brake and break blade. To remove the bottom plate to get at the pin the whole of the distributor had to be removed. If the bottom plate had the centre hole increased slightly it could be removed. There would be sufficient metal to still retain the ball race. [Handwritten: WST WM] Oil Leaks from Camshaft Covers. A case came in with a bad oil leak from the joints of the camshafts cover plates.
