Throttle Lever on 20 H.P.

X4228

We have often noticed with the 20 h.p. chassis that the throttle lever has to be set at perhaps half way open before the engine will run at all, and therefore, when the lever is at the top the engine is not running fast.

This is a great drawback, as it is an advantage to be able to have the engine running fast in changing, for instance, from top to second; also for starting from a standstill on a hill.

Do you think anything can be done to improve this, please, or is there any particular reason why it should not be arranged as in the 40/50 h.p. - that when the throttle lever is advanced to the fullest, the engine is really revolving fast.

I was recently driving 49-G-6, which is our new trials car, and this was particularly noticeable. Also the serious rattle in the brake lever.

I believe this car will be returned to the Works shortly for certain adjustments, and perhaps you would then like to look at the throttle to see what can be done.
